In Memoriam: Carl Marschke
Carl Ronald Marschke, of Phillips, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, just short of his 77th birthday.
Marschke founded Marquip Inc. in 1968 as a manufacturer of custom-designed automated machinery for the building materials industry. He and his business partner, Richard Thomas, eventually refocused the company on providing machinery to the corrugated industry. After several acquisitions, the company name was changed to MarquipWardUnited, which designs and manufactures corrugating, finishing sheeting and sheet packaging machinery for the corrugated paper converting and packaging industries.
Marschke was an active member of the TAPPI Corrugated Division, a TAPPI Fellow, and recipient of the 2003 Gunnar Nicholson Gold Medal Award.
Marschke was a successful leader, inventing many machines and growing his business to become one of the top ranked in the world. He is survived by his wife, Gay (Turnquist) Marschke; children: Karl, Dean, and Lynda; and grandchildren: Thomas, Carolin, Christian, Elyse, Jazlynn, Jessica, and Suzanne. He was preceded in death by his son Steven.
