Hexcel Corporation is accepting applications for a Process Engineer for its Decatur, Alabama, USA location.
Provide leadership and expertise to improve plant processes through careful characterization. Key factors include safety, quality, yields, cost reduction, process capability, introduction of new technology, and reduction of time cycles.
Manage capital projects (up to $500k) as required; providing cost and schedule control, identification of required resources, and coordination between all affected parties.
Assume full responsibility for managing process conditions to meet Process Control Document requirements and PAN fiber specifications.
Author and execute process trials related to process or product improvements, working very closely with Operations personnel.
Perform root cause analysis in order to investigate product, process, or equipment issues. Implement repairs, upgrades, and improvements as necessary.
Design and/or troubleshoot systems related to instruments, controls, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer.
Provide engineering support to produce/revise operating procedures, documents, and forms.
Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
Define SPC requirements/procedures and promote SPC techniques/principles.
Keep management and production informed of process trends.
Work with Operations and Quality to insure non-conforming product is properly dispositioned.
Insure compliance with ISO 9001 and other quality requirements.
Work with vendors and/or contractors to optimize optimum system performance.
Manage Six Sigma and other continuous improvement projects as required.
Prepare and maintain Engineering drawings, including Engineering and Process Flow Diagrams, Assembly Drawings, and Detailed Design Drawings.
Evaluate PAN fiber manufacturing conditions and downstream material properties and troubleshoot as necessary.
Provide oversight for commissioning and startup of new or modified equipment.
Develop and communicate formal presentations to management and customers.
Liaison with customer(s) to insure compliance with all requirements.
Experience with Six Sigma improvement principles
A broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistical process control (SPC)
Knowledge/experience with man-made fiber spinning, filtration, blending, chemical process equipment and instrumentation
Demonstrated track record of performance excellence and technical expertise
Qualifications:
B.S. in Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 0-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of complicated tasks and has a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities.
Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment.
