The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) is in Vancouver this week to participate in the Globe 2020 conference on sustainability and the clean economy. The conference and forum take place Feb. 10 to 13 at Vancouver Convention Centre West.
At the event, FPAC joins an international discussion about the circular economy and the critical role that Canada’s forests and forestry workers are ready to play.
“As thought leaders gather in Vancouver this week, the planet is seized with an urgency to develop solutions to climate change and to create a greener economy,” says Derek Nighbor, president and CEO of FPAC, in a statement. “Our forests are a renewable resource and because of our people, Canada is a world leader in sustainable forest management.
“Our sector has invested more than $2 billion over the last decade in cutting-edge science to develop biofuels, bioproducts and clean technologies that will enable everything from clothing to toothpaste to LCD screens to be made from wood fibre. We look forward to engaging with delegates, exploring common challenges, and sharing our Made in Canada innovative wood solutions with the world.”
Globe 2020 brings together thought leaders from the public and private sectors to cover five themes: Climate crisis, sustainability as strategy, energy transformation, circular economy, and mobilizing capital.
