J. Richard Hess to keynote IBBC 2020

TAPPI’s International Bioenergy & Bioproducts Conference (IBBC) announces J. Richard Hess, Ph.D., as its 2020 keynote speaker on Tuesday, November 3 at 11:00 am (ET). Hess is the director of Idaho National Lab’s (INL) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Program Office, which is part of the United States Department of Energy (DOE). He oversees and leads development of top level strategic planning between Energy and Environmental Science and Technology (EEST) and DOE EERE to ensure high impact, integrated, and objective-driven EERE programs at INL. The Program Office encompasses Bioenergy Technologies (BETO), Vehicle Technologies (VTO), Fuel Cell Technologies (FCTO), Geothermal (GTO), Wind and Water Programs, Solar Energy Technologies (SETO), Advanced Manufacturing (AMO), Federal Energy Management (FEMP), and Building Technologies (BTO).

INL’s Energy and Environment Program includes cutting-edge research for energy efficiency, integration of renewable energy sources, investigation of new materials, and subsurface characterization. Its biomass research is advancing technical and economic feasibility of the U.S. commodity-based bioenergy industry.
