Stora Enso’s Sustainability Report Rated Among Top Ten Globally

In WBCSD’s Reporting matters publication, Stora Enso’s Sustainability Report 2019 is recognized as good practice for being clearly aligned with the company’s sustainability agenda. Highlighted strengths of the report include the disclosure on trends in the external environment to provide context for material issues, as well as the use of graphics to illustrate sustainability targets progress.

“It is very rewarding to see that Stora Enso’s long-term efforts to continuously develop our sustainability reporting has once again been acknowledged,” says Annette Stube, EVP Sustainability at Stora Enso. “We remain committed to clear and transparent sustainability reporting as a means to engage with all our stakeholders. We always aim to take our reporting to the next level and that work will continue.”

“In addition to being informative and balanced, a good report must be easy to understand for all our stakeholders. Our reporting builds trust in our brand and we consistently strive to find engaging and visually compelling ways to share extensive and sometimes complex information. Our sustainability report is great example of just that,” says Ulrika Lilja, EVP Communications at Stora Enso.

“Stora Enso’s 2019 Sustainability Report shows a clear alignment between the outcomes of their materiality assessment and the content of the report. The report provides a concise overview of KPIs, corporate targets and progress for each of these topics. We hope other companies will see Stora Enso as an example of good practice,” says Rodney Irwin, Managing Director of Redefining Value, WBCSD.

WBCSD produces Reporting matters to help improve the effectiveness of non-financial corporate reporting. The report lists Stora Enso’s Sustainability Report as one of the top ten in the world out of the 158 reviewed in the scope of the publication, without disclosing the exact rankings.
