Very few people were prepared for the global pandemic that swept the population this past year but everyone was affected by it, and so were most industries.
The nonwovens industry, in particular, was greatly impacted as suppliers had to adapt quickly to the growing demand for critical end-use products such as Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and disinfecting wipes, while at the same time dealing with the limitations of stay-at-home orders and a recession economy. New markets opened up while other established markets experienced dramatic declines. As the world looks toward new vaccines to help it emerge from the pandemic, the nonwovens industry has an opportunity to examine how well it responded to the crisis. These lessons from the recent past may help ensure the industry thrives in the future.
David Rousse, president of INDA, the Association of the Nonwovens Fabrics Industry, will share insight on the industry’s COVID response during his keynote address as part of the Nonwovens track at TAPPICon VIRTUAL. Rousse’s presentation, The Nonwovens Industry Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic: PPE and Wipes, is May 4 at 10am ET.
