With increased pressure for new paper grades, improved quality and sustainability, mills find themselves caught between a “rock and a hard place.” How do they meet this growing demand and still keep operation costs low. One solution is to rebuild current machines. Rebuilds can help remove production bottlenecks, reduce production costs, improve operating safety, save energy, and/or add new grades with paper machine conversion.
One successful paper machine (PM) rebuild will be shared by Rocky Matuska and Wojciech Niemczyk of Valmet during the Papermaking track at TAPPICon LIVE! Their presentation, Build a PM of the Future - Valmet's Case Study Project in Russia, focuses on the economic advantages of re-using assets to blend existing and new machinery in order to increase production capacity, achieve lower basis weight range, and improve key properties. Attendees will hear details about various challenges they encountered and what solutions helped them optimize runnability and the cost of media and maintenance.
TAPPICon’s Papermaking track also highlights other industry success stories including: Game Changing Wire Cleaner Case Study, 1st North American Application presented by Coldwater Group, Inc.; Success Stories Documenting the Use of Microwave Instrument Technology to Solve Common Problems presented by Cristini; and Toscotec's Dryer Section Rebuild: The In-Depth Analysis of a Case History presented by Toscotec.
