PPSA is pleased to announce its three keynote speakers for the 2023 Safety & Health Conference taking place June 11-14 at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld in Orlando, FL. Michael P. Doss, President and Chief Executive Officer, Graphic Packaging Holding Company, is the event’s opening keynote. Industrial psychologist Marcin Nazaruk, Ph.D., is Tuesday’s keynote, while noted speaker, leadership trainer and author Phillip Van Hooser will wrap up the event with his Wednesday keynote on decision making for leaders.

Since joining Graphic Packaging International Corporation in 1990, Doss has held many positions of increasing management responsibility, beginning with plant manager at the Gordonsville, TN and Wausau, WI plants. Prior to taking on the role of president and chief executive officer, Doss most recently held the positions of president and chief operating officer, chief operating officer and executive vice president – commercial operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial marketing and an MBA in finance, both from Western Michigan University. He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s General Manager Program.
As a chartered psychologist and safety professional, Dr. Nazaruk combines multiple perspectives that enable him to write multiple industry guidance documents, toolkits for practitioners, new competency frameworks for safety professionals, and scientific papers. His work has earned many industry awards with the most recent being the 2022 Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International Health, Safety, and Environment Award for outstanding contributions to the field. While serving as a global leader for HP programs at BP and Baker Hughes, he led industry working groups under the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the International Association of Oil & Gas Producer, Step Change in Safety, and the Human Performance Oil and Gas.
One of the country’s foremost leadership experts, Phillip Van Hooser has helped over 900 organizations build leadership bench strength, performance, and productivity. Driven by his belief that “leadership is not a position but the ability to offer service and a willingness to take action,” Van Hooser’s material is hands-on and based on his experience across a variety of platforms.
The 2023 program focuses on the latest trends and technologies relating to workplace safety, including leadership, creating authentic speak up cultures, new hire safety onboarding, technology and workplace safety, and OSHA updates.
Attendees will also learn about leading-edge safety innovations at the New Technology Showcase and build relationships at one of the industry’s largest gatherings of pulp and paper safety professionals.
