Peruvian Box Producer Looking to Expand to US Market

A Peruvian polypropylene box manufacturer and supplier, YNG Packaging, who services the local asparagus and avocado industry is looking to expand to the US market. Yela Nestorovic, CEO of YNG Packaging in Peru: “We have capacity to produce more boxes and because it is needed in the US we want to expand to this market.”

The company works with polypropylene, a material resistant to humidity and low temperatures, that is ideal for the export of fruits and vegetables. The processes are non-polluting, with their trimmings reincorporated into the online process.

“We have been manufacturing corrugated plastic boxes in Peru. We mainly serve the asparagus industry in Peru, but our products can be used in different industries such as for broccoli, celery, ginger as well as for seafood,” states Nestorovic.

She says as a company they pride themselves on providing good service to their clients. “What makes us different is service. We care about our clients’ needs and focus on providing good service. We produce mainly boxes of extrusion and injection moulding. In Peru we have the capacity to produce more boxes and because it is needed in the US we want to expand to this market. We offer the same quality, growers need a good supplier with good quality at a good price.”

While packaging material for fresh produce increased during and following Covid prices have decreased. “The raw material we use is polypropylene, it was expensive two years ago but it’s like oil with the market that will change according to supply and demand. The prices are stable now. I hope the world does not have a Covid pandemic again. We produce 15 million boxes for asparagus and 8 million boxes for avocados with the injection moulding. We have the capacity to produce a lot more. I’m also willing to grow as the demand grows in the US market,” concludes Nestorovic.
