Suzano announced that Beto Abreu is the new CEO of Suzano as of July 1. The executive takes office with the mission of advancing the company's strategic plan, which this year celebrates its centenary and completes the construction of the largest single cellulose production line in the world, in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS).
With over 30 years of experience and experience at companies such as Rumo, Shell and Raízen, Abreu is recognized for his ability to combine results with management practices focused on people and strengthening partnerships, in addition to having extensive experience in conducting merger and acquisition transactions.
Abreu's arrival at Suzano was announced in February of this year. On April 2, he began a successful transition process with Walter Schalka, who is leaving the company's presidency after 11 years and joining the Board of Directors and various committees of the company.

A graduate in Production Engineering from PUC-Rio and with an MBA in Administration from Fundação Dom Cabral, Abreu also completed executive programs at IMD Business School and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining Suzano, he was president of Rumo, the largest independent rail logistics operator in Brazil, for five years. At 53 years of age, the executive is married and the father of three children.
Abreu takes office at an important moment in Suzano's history, as it is about to complete the Cerrado Project, with an estimated investment of R$22.2 billion. The plant, announced in 2021, symbolizes the largest investment cycle in the company's history, led by Schalka in recent years.

"His experience and strategic vision will be fundamental in leading the company on a journey that will result in even more positive social, environmental and economic contributions."
