An election is underway to fill one Member-at-Large position on the TAPPI Corrugated Packaging Council (CPC), the governing body of TAPPI’s Corrugated Packaging Division that develops strategic plans, press products and events. Voting is open until close of business this Friday, August 16, 2024.
The open position is for a three-year term. Voting results will be announced on August 26, 2024, prior to the 2024 TAPPI/AICC SuperCorrExpo® event, September 8-12, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Current TAPPI Corrugated Division members are asked to vote via the official Survey Monkey ballot for one of the following candidates to serve as Member-at-Large:
Mike Kohler has worked for Kohler Coating since 2009 and is currently the Vice President. He specializes in rod-metering systems associated with Kohler's water decks, coaters, and glue units. Kohler has extensive experience on corrugators including the world's only 13-inch corrugating line in Canton, Ohio used for corrugator trials and testing.
Kohler served as a CPC Member-at-Large from 2021-2024. He was active with the Young Professionals (YP) Division since joining TAPPI in 2016 serving in leadership positions including the Division’s Co-Director of Events in 2017-2019 and as the CPC YP Liaison for 2019-2020. Kohler received the TAPPI Young Professional of the Year award in 2018.
Danny Lopez, Director, New Machinery Sales, The Haire Group, works closely with his team and collaborates with Haire’s global customers to develop new products. Lopez has worked his entire career in the corrugated packaging industry beginning in 2006 as an application engineer for Alliance Machine Systems International where he designed corrugated plant layouts in North, Central and South America before switching to sales, management, and product support for all Alliance customers in the western U.S. and Canada.
Tom Staal is Director of Management Systems for Coastal Containers where he uses his experience as a plant floor supervisor, quality management professional, and now member of the organization’s management team to help Coastal transition from a sheet plant start-up to a full-line corrugated plant.
A 30-year TAPPI member, he has been a long-time participant of both the CORBOTEC and FISCOTEC Committees, where he served as Chair of the Fiscotec Committee. He is currently serving as the Secretary of the Corbotec Committee. Staal has previously served as an elected member of the CPC as well as an appointed member until an employment change required that he resign from the post. He has served as working group chair on numerous TAPPI Test Methods and TIPs and on the Standards Advisory Review Group (SARG). Staal was awarded the Division Technical Award in 2019.
Tim Wilson is the Southeast Territory, New Machinery Sales Manager for The Haire Group. He began his career in the corrugated Industry in 2015 after 13 years in automotive aftermarket sales. Wilson’s current responsibilities include growing new corrugated converting equipment sales within integrated and independent box makers, while also fostering long-term business relationships. He is active in AICC and TAPPI, serving as a member of the CPC, the Technical Program Committee and as Chair of the Supplier Advisory Committee.
Wilson earned an Associate of Science from Ivy Tech Community College focused in business administration and management.
Joe Wunder, President of A.G. Stacker Inc., has extensive experience in engineering, operations, and sales, within the industrial manufacturing and corrugated converting markets. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and an MBA from Averett University in Virginia. He began his career as a Nuclear Instrumentation and Control Engineer, designing for nuclear power facilities and submarines and aircraft carriers for the Department of the Navy. While completing his MBA, Wunder stepped into the role of Technical Sales Engineer, and later Vice President of Sales, at a regional industrial automation distributor.
He joined A.G. Stacker Inc. as a regional sales manager in 2015 and became the director of engineering and manufacturing in 2016 before being named president in 2017.
The current CPC includes appointed members from International Paper, The Haire Group, Menasha Packaging, WestRock, Packaging Corporation of America, Pratt Industries, Arvco Container, Advance Packaging, SMC Packaging, and Greif. The elected positions include members from BW Papersystems, Kohler Coating, Niagara Sheets, and Fosber. The Chairs of the Corrugated Division Technical Committees, the YP Division Liaison to Corrugated, and the Supplier Advisory Committee Chair complete the council.
