KNOE News reports that Graphic Packaging in West Monroe celebrated one hundred years of business on Monday, September 9.
Graphic Packaging has invested one hundred years in Ouachita parish, currently employing 800 employees with payroll averaging around 1 million dollars a day, according to Graphic Packaging officials.
The company has used renewable resources to manufacture paper-based, and eco-friendly household products. On Monday the company donated 100,000 dollars to the Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum. The Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum Director of Development, Dawn Landry says the money will go towards the new facility.
She says, “They’re investing money that will impact the future workforce in our area. Their investment will help children grow up thinking there home is a great place to live, work and raise their families, just like they have done for the past hundred years. The future is really bright, thanks to businesses like graphic packaging supporting us and our children.”
Graphic Packaging’s Vice President of Paperboard Manufacturing, Bill MacPherson says they look forward to passing on the history of Graphic Packaging to younger generations.
He says,” We are excited to support a place where thousands of students each year can experience the joy of discovery and develop essential problem-solving skills. Through this partnership, we aim to highlight rewarding opportunities in manufacturing and pave the way for our industry to continue to thrive.”
According to officials, the company’s economic impact on Ouachita Parish is around 3 billion dollars so far.
