The new PM 6 machine set its 24 hr. average machine speed record of 1,398 m/min 12 days after startup.

A traditional machine takes about 12 people to operate, but Champion Machinery's new machine system requires only eight people. In addition, each production line is now capable of producing 30 meters of corrugated product per minute, which means production capacity has increased 1.3 times.

The production capacity for paperboard at Holmen’s Workington mill in the U.K. will rise by 10% or 20,000 metric tpy through a rebuild of the paperboard machine’s press section. At Holmen’s Iggesund Mill in Sweden, pulp capacity will rise by 15% or 50,000 metric tpy.

The mill’s new paper machine has a wire width of 4,900 mm and produces duplex white board with grey back in a range of 230 to 500 gsm, at a maximum operating speed of 650 m/min.

Metsä Board Corp., part of Metsä Group, announced yesterday it is investing in a new boxboard machine. Through targeted divestments the company is in the final steps of transforming into a paperboard / boxboard exclusive company as it separates itself from paper related business.

In addition to the new OptiWin Drum two-drum winder, Valmet's delivery to the mill in Finland will include winder pulper, transfer rails, related dust control systems, and the core handling system. Installation supervision, commissioning, startup, and training services are also included in the finishing area rebuild delivery.

ProSeam 3L felt technology is a triple layer laminated construction providing up to 25% more void volume than conventional double layer designs. It is engineered for handling high water volume and critical sheet properties are primary objectives.

The pellet industry says it's using wood by-products that would otherwise go to waste to fuel an energy export boom to Europe. Critics on the environmental side say the expansion hurts forests and does not help the climate. Critics in the paper industry say, if not done entirely from what would be waste products, it raises the price of materials for production.
