Consumers who participated in the survey read grocery, mass merchant, and drug store flyers on a regular basis said that they consider print flyers more valuable than online or email by a significant margin. Despite many marketers feeling pressure to move to digital advertising and online flyer options, many consumers still look to print for information about shopping, even among younger demographics.

In spring 2014, an Ohio school superintendentmet met with several representatives from Glatfelter to discuss ways in which the company could connect with Tiffin and its students. Glatfelter made an initial seven-week commitment to Tiffin and renewed it in January. The program was also expanded into new coordination with learning projects. Under this contract, Veolia will improve the overall performance of heat production, especially combustion quality. This will further reduce the facility’s carbon dioxide emissions by 3%. Veolia’s efforts will help address the challenge of greenhouse gas reduction in South Korea.

The contract is subject to Metsä Fibre's investment decision. Metsä Fibre has announced that if the prerequisites for the investment are met, the decision on the construction of the bioproduct mill will be made this spring, meaning that production at the new mill would begin in 2017.

The expansion would include manufacturing space, utility rooms, offices, a covered tank farm for methanol and resin storage, a covered delivery area, a truck dock and parking. The operation would use a proprietary system, according to documents filed with Appleton planners at the Wisconsin, USA based company.

The project includes installation of a modern continuous pulp digester and other wood chip processing equipment. The company says when completed in the fourth quarter of 2015, the project will contribute to significantly lowering the mill’s costs.

Nearly two years ago, Mark Smiley saw an opportunity to improve the back-end operations at Badger Paperboard, in Fredonia, Wis., USA. That’s when he traded an outdated, 100-in. Seybold paper cutter for an 85-in. Seybold unit rebuilt by Colter & Peterson, featuring the latest electronics and a separate ‘Flying Carpet" system.

With this investment, the plant will raise production capacity from 50,000 metric tpy to 160,000 metric tpy. Klabin also intends to reach an overall total production capacity of 270,000 metric tpy of recycled paper this year.

Nanotechnology
CelluForce is a joint venture of Domtar Inc. and FPInnovations. It operates a nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) demonstration plant at the Domtar pulp and paper mill site in Windsor, Que. The demonstration plant began production in January 2012.

New Products
This is a shoe press developed to support customers in saving natural resources while considerably reducing their energy costs and thus improving their competitiveness and market position. With this new product, up to 5% higher dryness can be achieved compared to a configuration of suction roll pressed against earlier generations. Paper quality is not compromised.
