Rosie used Bounty paper towels to clean up after her patrons’ many spills, demonstrating Bounty’s superior absorbency and strength. The Bounty diner "throwback" experience was a unique one-day tribute to her, as well as Bounty’s rich history.

Highly-participative, full two-day workshop will guide cross-functional, multi-disciplined management participants through "hands-on" scenarios to better understand and eventually better manage their overall Asset Reliability Maintenance functions.

TAPPI’s 3rd annual Tissue360° Forum, was the highest attended ever. The 10 peer-reviewed, noncommercial sessions drew 30% more attendees than 2014 and were rated quite highly. In fact, about 30 people stayed for a wrap-up and critique sponsored by Siemens. Presentations covered solutions such as controlling yankee doctor vibration and troubleshooting drives along with the latest in forming technology and process control solutions.

"There have been some great contributions to the advancement of tissue and converting," says Scott Springmier of TAPPI, "and our TAPPI volunteers have decided we are long overdue to recognize them." The Tissue Division is establishing three new awards to recognize outstanding contributions in the industry.

Demand for corrugated packaging material is expected to increase by an average of more than 4% annually over the next five years, and will amount to almost 115 million metric tons of converted material worth an estimated $176 billion by 2019. That’s according to the new report from Smithers Pira examining four trends in the corrugated packaging sector.

Pulp & Paper
The improved optical brightening technology developed by Archroma, combines magnesium salts with optical brighteners. Papers treated with this process present enhanced brightness and whiteness levels, offering consumers a more pleasurable writing and printing experience.

Arkhbum plans to begin construction work at the end of July, and to start up the 2.8-meter-wide tissue machine in the first quarter of 2017, along with several converting lines for the production of toilet paper, kitchen towels, tissues, and napkins. In 2019-2021, Arkhbum intends to further increase the plant’s capacity by installing additional lines.

Voith’s tissue machine included a MasterJet T 1-layer headbox, a Voith steel yankee cylinder with high performance hood, NipcoFlex T shoe press, and a MasterReel. In addition, Voith’s complete Process Line Package (PLP) included the OnQ quality control system equipped with non-radioactive sensors for the measurement of moisture content and fiber weight.

Administrators describe the "slightly different dynamic" of buying a company out of insolvency. The price is cheaper, but the big difference purchasing a business in this manner is ditching unwanted baggage such as debts, creditors, and liabilities. "We have had quite a few enquiries." These range from requests about redundant stock and equipment, to queries about resuming partial or full operation, the latter clearly preferred by administration.

The Advantage DCT 100 tissue machine, supplied by Valmet (Finland), increases the company's production of bathroom tissue, towel, and diaper tissue for the Indonesian market by 25,000 metric tpy. The new tissue line fulfills the company's ambition to produce sustainable products of high quality in a cost-efficient way.

The equipment includes paper converting machinery and equipment including Maxson and Clark-Aiken sheeters, Mitsubishi and Caterpillar forklifts, computerized paper cutters, Cameron rewinders, an automatic hood type shrink wrap machine, a compressed air system, electric scissor lift, chain type paper roll saw, and a paper scrap reclaim system.

The amount of waste generated annually by U.S. sales of just one product package, Capri Sun juice pouches, would circle the globe nearly five times according to As You Sow's research. A classic case of too little, too late? Tullis Russell invested £200 million into modern. efficient power generation. But the facility didn't come online until one month before TR's management announced it would be going into administration, making 300+ workers redundant. It's likely this power station will now sell exclusively to the U.K. grid instead of being an innovative on-site source generating affordable power for paper production.

People
Colgrove will continue to serve as president of the division until the beginning of Q2. Patrick Burke, who serves as the company's VP of supply chain, will assume the role of SVP and president of the company's consumer products division, when his successor for the supply chain function is appointed. Colgrove will also continue to serve the company until the end of 2015 to assist in transition.

Fernie is responsible for the Crown Packaging plant and the Boxmaster packaging plant, both in Vancouver B.C., Canada, and distribution centers in Kelowna, B.C. and Calgary, AB, Canada. He succeeds Joe Beers, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.

Anders Nyrén has left his assignment as chairman of the SCA Board of Directors effective April 30. No further information about Nyrén’s resignation was made available in the company's recent release.
