SCA will acquire Wausau for $10.25 per share or total consideration of $513 million (approximately SEK 4.2 billion) in cash. The boards of directors of both companies have unanimously approved the definitive merger agreement.

At a cost of some EUR 1.2 billion, the pulp/bioproduct mill is the largest investment in the history of the forest industry in Finland. It will produce 1.3 million metric tpy of pulp to be used as raw material for paperboard, tissue, printing paper, and specialty products. All of the side streams from the bioproduct mill will be utilized in the ecosystem that will be formed by various companies around the mill.
