The govt. of Canada has announced it will invest up to $7 million in a new biomass research cluster. An additional $3.1 million is contributions is expected from industry, bringing the total investment to $10.1 million. Funding the new Biomass Cluster under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a five-year, $3 billion investment by federal, provincial and territorial govt.

Construction cost $40 to $50 million; the hot water trans. system and dist. system about $40 to $65 million; the energy transfer stations $10 to $12 million; and 119 buildings will cost approximately $60 to $75 million. Interested firms, said to be working closely with Goldman Sachs, have until April 17 to submit their statements.
