The global market size for airlaid papers will reach approx. $1.46 billion by 2024, up from $1.23 billion in 2019. This growth is projected to continue the current trend for the most part. Airlaid paper production increased from 434.2 KMT in 2017 to 459.8 KMT in 2018.

Market expected to expand at a CAGR of 3.9% during the forecast period; roughly consistent with expectations by market research firms for packaging papers such as paperboard (similar to Kraft sack paper except with considerably higher gsm thickness) where the forecast heading into the mid-2020s generally predicts a figure between 3% and 5% CAGR.

A minority post will be held by the founder family. BillerudKorsnäs is currently the majority owner and has been a shareholder in the company since 2015. BillerudKorsnäs has been a driving force in the ongoing development of a paper bottle, which was started by ecoXpac in 2010 and with Carlsberg Group since 2015.

UPM plans to permanently close PM 10 at UPM Plattling, Germany, reducing the annual capacity of coated mechanical paper in Europe by approximately 155,000 tons. Paper production on paper machines 1 and 11 is planned to continue at the mill site.

The option gives the company the right to execute an asset purchase agreement with OI, through which, should the Company exercise the Option, OI would acquire substantially all of the Company’s assets in exchange for a credit bid of approximately $175,000,000 against the Company’s obligations under its pre-petition secured credit facility plus other consideration.

New woodyard will replace existing woodroom and chip storage facilities, which have a pneumatic conveying system. The technology supplied by Andritz will substantially contribute towards reducing emissions and operating costs, resulting in environmentally friendly, high-quality chip production and considerable savings in raw material.

Containerboard/Packaging
For producers, the new packaging platform will offer end-to-end traceability to improve the production of the product, quality control and supply chain transparency. It will have the ability to track and trace the history or location of any product, making it possible to monitor for market performance and any potential issues.

According to recent research by Markets and Markets, the global market for anti-counterfeit packaging will grow from $5.3 billion in 2018 to $9.4 billion by 2023. This increase is driven by factors such as the growing number of counterfeit products, increasing brand awareness amongst buyers, the expansion of the e-commerce industry, concerns regarding brand image and developments in printing technologies.

From Terry Webber, AF&PA Executive Director, Packaging: "Paper receipts are made from a renewable resource: trees. The environmental and health risks cited in California State Assembly bill AB 161 ignore fundamental recycling capabilities and are based on misleading and unsubstantiated statements and should not be enshrined in California law...."

Proposed legislation in California would require retailers to generate electronic receipts unless customers request paper receipts. Lawmakers in Illinois are proposing similar legislation. But such bills are based on misinformation about paper receipts and ignore privacy concerns for consumers and costs for small businesses.

Both our Florida tissue mills, Hialeah and Sanford, are certified to the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Sustainable Forestry Initiative® and Forest Stewardship Council® chain of custody standards, Green Seal® standards, in addition to being authorized to use the SFI Certified Sourcing label.

Sticker attachments have recently seen a rise in popularity. However, the glues used in stickers have caused problems in the paper recycling process. The problem is not a new one but has become more notable as the quantity of sticker material attached to printed products has increased.

Holmen’s largest forest holdings are located in northern Sweden, while much of its industrial production takes place in the south. To secure its wood supply and add value to its own forest, Holmen is now going to be transporting its wood south on trains from Green Cargo.

Russell Grissett is a 25-year Sonoco veteran who has demonstrated strong commercial and operational leadership within the Company’s Consumer Packaging and Protective Solutions businesses. Most recently, Grissett was Division Vice President and General Manager of Global Protective Solutions.

As the EVP of Paper, Craig Boortz leads the company’s largest business segment, planning and overseeing the development and execution of the sales and marketing strategy for the paper business. Boortz retains his regional management responsibilities and continues to report directly to Mac Papers CEO David McGehee.

Company announced the appointment of Robert Hrivnak as senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer, effective April 8, 2019. Hrivnak, age 58, will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial reporting and controls, investor relations, risk management, tax and treasury functions, and purchasing.
