Leading global packaging and paper manufacturer Mondi has launched an innovative new mobile app for the sack kraft paper market. The ‘Go2Sack’ app provides information and real time calculations and is a market first for the paper and sack kraft industry. The app helps users to select the best paper grade for a specific product and therefore reduces the decision-making time to place orders.

Verso Corporation (NYSE: VRS) announced that it has completed the sale of its Androscoggin Mill, located in Jay, Maine, and its Stevens Point Mill, located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to Pixelle Specialty Solutions LLC (“Pixelle”).

Valmet will supply a Defibrator™ system and a Steam Separator PV system to Qinzhou Lvyuan Wood Co., Ltd. in China. The start-up of the system is planned for spring 2020. The order was included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2019. The value of the order will not be disclosed.

Domtar Corporation (NYSE: UFS) (TSX: UFS) reported a net loss of $34 million ($0.59 per share) for the fourth quarter of 2019 compared to net earnings of $20 million ($0.32 per share) for the third quarter of 2019 and net earnings of $87 million ($1.38 per share) for the fourth quarter of 2018. Sales for the fourth quarter of 2019 were $1.2 billion.

Surprising new figures from packaging giant, DS Smith, have shown increased sales of paper for shopping bags as retailers adapt to new attitudes towards single-use plastic. Last year alone, the Kemsley Paper Mill – the largest paper recycling mill in the UK – supplied enough paper to make around 400 million bags used by major retailers and food takeaway chains.

Since the Voith Paper Webshop was launched in 2017 the number of users has risen continuously. Worldwide, more than 96 companies are already using the newly developed online tool from Voith’s digital portfolio. The Mondi Group, which has more than 100 production facilities in 30 countries worldwide, is now also relying on Voith’s simple, time-saving and cost-saving ordering processes.

International technology group ANDRITZ was selected by UPM, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, to supply energy-efficient and environmentally leading equipment and processes for all main process islands in fiber production and chemical recovery for their new pulp mill to be built near Paso de los Toros in central Uruguay.

Graphic Packaging International has selected Voith to provide a complete recycled stock preparation system for its new Coated Recycled Board (CRB) machine being built in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The system will feature Voith’s BlueLine products and a water, sludge and reject handling system.
