Runtech Systems delivers two RunEco vacuum systems to Shanying International, at its Zhaoqing mill in China. RunEco systems will provide vacuum for the two new linerboard machines PM52 and PM53 with design speed of 1,200 m/min and wire width of 9,300 mm.

After a complete dryer section rebuild supplied by Toscotec, Cartiera di Ferrara fired up PM1 at its mill in Ferrara, Italy. Toscotec modified the entire dryer section, without changing its overall length and therefore leaving the positions of the press and the pope reel unchanged.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has successfully started up a new 500 t/d HERB chemical recovery boiler at Kuantum Papers Limited in Saila Khurd, Hoshiapur district in the state of Punjab, India.

With an investment sum of 16.7 million euros, being part of the normal overall capex spend, DS Smith, is expanding and modernizing its traditional site in Arnstadt, Thuringia. The recent symbolic ground-breaking ceremony marks the start of construction work to renovate and expand the plant, which will take place while production continues and will span the next 12 months.

PAPRESA, the leading southern European manufacturer of newsprint, commissioned Voith in March to completely rebuild PM 5 at the Rentería mill in Spain. The start-up of the ambitious project is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022.

Waste materials from the pulp and paper industry have long been seen as possible fillers for building products like cement, but for years these materials have ended up in the landfill. Now, researchers at UBC Okanagan (University of British Columbia Okanagan campus) are developing guidelines to use this waste for road construction in an environmentally friendly manner.
