Verso Corporation announced the completion of the sale of the company's closed mill in Duluth, Minnesota, to ST Paper 1, LLC, effective May 13, 2021. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Millcraft Paper Company announced that it has acquired the assets of Dennis Paper Company of Nashville, Tennessee. Founded by Morris Dennis in 1969, family-owned Dennis Paper has earned a reputation as one of Nashville and Middle Tennessee's leaders in fine paper distribution for more than 50 years. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Andritz Ingeniería, SA, part of international technology Group ANDRITZ, has received an order from Smurfit Kappa Nervion to provide industrial maintenance services for their mill in Iurreta, Spain.

Being subjected to both the pressure and the heating of the steam from the inside and the load of the presses from the outside, the Yankee Cylinder undergoes high thermal and mechanical stresses. To cope with this, a very complex mechanical structure that must meet extremely high requirements in terms of safety and operational reliability is required.

Dunn Paper selected Toscotec for the rebuild of the wet section of PM2 at its Menominee paper mill in Michigan, USA. The paper machine produces specialty papers including MG grades and flexible packaging products.

Nippon Paper Industries announced its decision to shut down the operation of its N6 paper machine at Ishinomaki Mill located in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, by the end of May 2022.

Suzano announced that its Board of Directors approved a capital investment of BRL 14.7 billion (approx. USD 2.87 billion) for the construction of a new pulp mill to be located in the municipality of Ribas do Rio Pardo, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.

Graphic Packaging Holding Company (NYSE: GPK), ("Graphic Packaging" or the "Company") and CVC Capital Partners Fund VI announced a definitive agreement under which Graphic Packaging will acquire AR Packaging Group AB ("AR Packaging"), Europe's second largest producer of fiber-based consumer packaging, for approximately $1.45 billion in cash, subject to customary adjustments.

New Products
The filter material in your face masks is made by, so called, spunmelt extrusion processes. In the Spunbond process polymer granules are melted and molten polymer is extruded through spinnerets. The continuous filaments are cooled and deposited on to a conveyor belt to form a uniform web. In Meltblown web formation, low viscosity polymers are extruded into a high velocity airstream on leaving the spinneret.

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) announced that 65.7 percent of paper consumed in the United States was recycled in 2020, maintaining a recycling rate that has been consistently high for over a decade. Since 2009, paper recycling has met or exceeded 63 percent—nearly double the rate the U.S. paper industry achieved in 1990.
