Valmet and Mercer Rosenthal deepen their long-term partnership as Valmet will upgrade Mercer Rosenthal’s mill’s Valmet IQ Quality Control System with the new scanner and related measurements.

Smurfit Kappa's Bag-in-Box division has announced the completion of a significant EUR 12 million investment in a new flexible material production facility at its plant in Ibi, Spain. The new state-of-the-art production facility commenced operations, on a phased basis, earlier this year and will be one of the most advanced Bag-in-Box manufacturing plants in Europe.

Resolute Forest Products announced capital investments of $50 million in its wood products operations to support its continued growth.

Norske Skog announced the closure of the Tasman mill in New Zealand and a sales process for the mill's assets. Production will cease by 30 June 2021, permanently reducing Norske Skog's newsprint capacity by approximately 150,000 metric tons.

Reno De Medici announced that it has signed an irrevocable commitment to acquire 100% of the share capital of Fineska B.V., the Dutch holding company of "Eska" Group. The seller, Andes C.V. is a vehicle controlled by the US investment firm Andlinger & Co.

Mondi announced that it will implement price increases of between 8% and 15% across the majority of its uncoated fine paper grades produced in Austria and Slovakia as of July 5, 2021.

Lecta announced a price increase of up to 15% for new orders of thermal and carbonless papers.

Pulp & Paper
Valmet will supply a large pulp and paper technology delivery to Klabin in Brazil. The order consists of a paperboard making line (PM 28), a complete new fiberline including a new Continuous Cooking G3, and a new bleached chemi thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP) line, all with extensive scopes of automation and Valmet Industrial Internet solutions.

The Twin Rivers Paper Company has received FSSC 22000 Certification for Food Packaging for its New York-based, Lyonsdale, Mohawk Valley, and Mill Street mills. FSSC 22000 is a GSI recognized, food safety certification developed to improve consistency and integrity throughout all aspects of the food safety supply chain.
