International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Asia Symbol (Guangdong) Paper to supply a complete tissue production line – from stock preparation to a double-width tissue machine (TM13), including automation – for energy-efficient production of high-quality grades at its mill in Jiangmen Xinhui, China. Start-up is planned for the end of 2022.

This will see a market valued at $7.84 billion in 2021 rise to $9.97 billion in 2026 — representative of compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.9% for 2021-2026, according to the latest forecasting from Smithers.

Glatfelter Corporation today announced that effective immediately it will increase prices for all Composite Fibers products by 12%, or as customer contracts permit.

Pulp & Paper
Valmet and CMPC have signed a letter of intent (LOI) for Valmet to deliver key technology for the BioCMPC project. The target of the project is to increase the production capacity of the Guaíba pulp mill’s line 2 from 1.5 million ADt/y (air dry metric tons per year) to 1.85 million ADt/y. The modernization is expected to start operation in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Metsä Group is planning to construct a new Kerto® LVL mill on its expanding mill area in Äänekoski, Finland. The final decision on the investment, the value of which is approximately EUR 200 million, is pending the completion of a local detailed plan for the area.

Voith and Truetzschler Nonwovens will supply a flexible, high-performance nonwovens production line to the Tufropes site in Gujarat. The main application will be environmentally friendly, biodegradable hygiene wipes made from renewable raw materials.

Containerboard/Packaging
Valmet will supply a new containerboard making line with extensive packages of automation and services to Kipas Kagit in Söke, Turkey. The new board making line (PM 3) will produce high-quality fluting and liner grades.

Nanotechnology
The global nanocellulose market has accelerated over the last few years as producers in Japan and to a lesser extent North America and Europe bring products to market. The development of these remarkable materials has compelled major paper and pulp producers to gravitate their traditional business towards advanced biorefineries, which have met with initial success and resulted in production capacity increases.

Consumers can now recycle shipping or packaging boxes sealed with RECYCOTAPE, as this unique packaging tape backing will break down along with the box during the recycling process.
