Valmet will supply a coated board making line and a bleached chemi thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP) production line with automation solutions, as well as spare parts and consumables packages to one of its customer in Asia. The board making line with high productivity will produce very high-quality folding coated board grades.

Toscotec successfully started up a TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer at Cartiera Ponte d'Oro Ansalcarta in Villa Basilica, Italy. The new Yankee replaced an existing cast iron dryer installed on PM1 in 1993 by Officine Meccaniche Toschi, which was renamed Toscotec in 2003.

Valmet will supply a high-capacity OptiWin Pro winder to Norske Skog’s Golbey mill in France. The main target of Norske Skog Golbey is to have one winder to handle the 550,000-metric ton capacity of the converted high-speed and high-capacity paper machine PM 1, following the paper machine conversion from production of newsprint to production of recycled containerboard. The start-up of the winder is scheduled for 2023.

Recent raw material scarcity and cost inflation in the paper business have led to higher price hikes, while industry restructuring combined with economic recovery have caused overbooking. But the market outlook is more balanced, with Stora Enso having competitive and sustainable paper assets for the benefit of its customers.

Market Roundup
Buckman, a privately-held, global company specializing in innovative chemistry and smart solutions, announced global price increases of 15 to 20% for all product offerings. The price increases will become effective October 1, or as customer contracts allow.

Verso Corporation (NYSE: VRS) ("Verso" or "the Company") announced that it has entered into a Confidentiality Agreement (the "Agreement") with Atlas FRM LLC (d/b/a Atlas Holdings LLC) ("Atlas").

Pulp & Paper
Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging, has taken an important step in its growth strategy with the start-up of the first paper machine (MP27) of the Puma II Project in Ortigueira, Paraná in Brazil. This is Klabin’s largest investment to date and AFRY has been responsible for developing and implementing the BOP (Balance of Plant) EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management).

ANDRITZ has received an order from Volga Pulp and Paper Mill in Balakhna, Nizhnij Novgorod Region, Russia, to supply a new OCC line as well as to convert its PM 6, a newsprint paper machine, to a packaging paper machine.

Valmet will supply an evaporation line rebuild to Grasim Industries Limited’s Harihar Polyfibers pulp manufacturing mill in India. The rebuild project is designed to improve the evaporator reliability and to handle the increased plant capacity to suit Grasim Industries’ pulp production expansion plans in the future.

Thailand-based SCGP announced that it is moving ahead with an expansion plan to build a new production complex in Vinh Phuc in northern Vietnam for the production of packaging paper.

Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill (KCPM) has an-nounced it will be the first packaging producer in the Ukrainian market to install a value line corrugator supplied by Germany’s BHS Corru-gated. The device will be installed at KCPM’s new corrugated factory in Verkhnedneprovsk, enabling the producer to make five-layer cor-rugated board.

Jabil Packaging Solutions announced a significant advancement in coffee pod sustainability with the launch of their home-compostable coffee capsule for single serve espresso brewers. This high-barrier coffee capsule improves on existing solutions by eliminating the need for a plastic or foil pouch that is sometimes required to preserve freshness in compostable coffee capsules.

Continuing its focus on global sustainability leadership and aligned with its ‘from Plastic to Purpose’ campaign, Ahlstrom-Munksjö has released a pioneering mono-material oxygen barrier technology made of 100% cellulose fibers.

The Koehler Group announced plans to convert the power plant at its paper mill in Greiz, Germany, from pulverized lignite (a form of brown coal) to fine wood fraction fuel. Koehler Renewable Energy, a part of the Koehler Group, has succeeded in developing an innovative technique that will allow a type of biomass to be used as fuel in the existing coal-fired power plant.

Lumi, the leading US marketplace for packaging and print products, [recently] announced that the American paper manufacturer Seaman Paper has partnered with Lumi to make its innovative assortment of sustainable packaging products available to customers on Lumi Marketplace.
