Stora Enso announced that they will stop all production and sales in Russia until further notice due to the ongoing invasion in Ukraine.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine is likely to impact global trade in the coming months. Increased sanctions against trading with Russia and difficulty with financial transactions will probably interrupt and re-direct shipments of forest products throughout the world. As a result, trade with Russia will likely decline, impacting long-established international trade flows of forest products.

Sappi announced that it will invest nearly EUR 6 million in an extensive modernization of the current steam generation boiler at its Maastricht Mill in the Netherlands.

Columbia Pulp, LLC has idled its Lyons Ferry pulp production facility in Starbuck, Washington. The pulp plant, which has the capacity to produce 140,000 tons per year of wet lap pulp from wheat straw, was idled on Feb. 18.

Runtech Systems delivers RunEco vacuum system rebuilds to two Doruk Paper sites in Turkey. RunEco systems with EP650 and EP315 Turbo Blowers will provide vacuum for the Doruk Paper and Packaging Industry Inc. Kayabasi site paper machines PM1, PM2 and PM4.

Toscotec will supply an AHEAD 2.2 tissue line on a turnkey basis to the Bangladeshi consumer goods manufacturer City Group who sets out to enter the tissue market. The new tissue mill will be erected in Hoshendi Economic Zone near Dhaka, and it is planned to start production in 2023.

Stora Enso is starting a feasibility study for the possible conversion of an idle paper machine at its Oulu site in Finland for a high-volume consumer board line. On a successful completion of the feasibility study, an investment decision could be made by the end of 2022 with start-up in 2025.

MM Group successfully signed a syndicated loan contract in the amount of EUR 65 mn classified as sustainable according to the Green Loan Framework. Based on the strict rules of Deutsche Industriebank AG and KfW (German state funding bank) MM received this certificate for its sustainability investment at Neuss for the rebuilt of the board machine.

Stora Enso announced that Teemu Salmi, CIO, Head of IT & Digitalisation and a member of the Group Leadership Team, has decided to leave the company. After five years with Stora Enso, Salmi will assume the position of CEO at Finnish cyber security company Nixu.
