Market Roundup
Greif announced that it is implementing a $50 per ton price increase for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) and coated recycled paperboard (CRB). The recycled paperboard increase is effective with new orders and shipments on and after June 6, 2022.

Resolute Forest Products reported net income for the quarter ended March 31 of $210 million, or $2.68 per diluted share, compared to net income of $87 million, or $1.06 per diluted share, in the same period in 2021. Sales were $945 million in the quarter, an increase of $72 million from the year-ago period.

Pulp & Paper
Paper Excellence announced that it is nearing completion of a significant project to winterize the pulp mill at Prince Albert Pulp Inc (PAPI) in Saskatchewan, Canada. Winterizing the mill means that the interior of the mill is now heated for the first time since 2014, when the site last operated. The project will cost approximately $500,000.

India's largest paper manufacturer ITC Limited PSPD has commissioned Voith to rebuild PM 1, including stock preparation, at its Chandrahati site, about 60 kilometers north of Kolkata.

Natron-Hayat Pulp and Paper Mill in Maglaj, Bosnia-Herzegovina, has ordered a press technology upgrade from Valmet. The delivery includes two refurbished Twin Roll Presses and additional equipment and services to secure the trouble-free operation of the presses.

Containerboard/Packaging
To meet the growing demand for sustainably produced packaging materials, Metsä Board announced last year an investment to increase the annual folding boxboard production capacity at its Husum mill by 200,000 metric tons.

The development project is funded from the Swedish strategic innovation program BioInnovation financed by the Swedish innovation agency Vinnova.
