ABB announced it has signed an agreement to purchase Siemens’ low voltage NEMA motor business. With manufacturing operations in Guadalajara, Mexico, this acquisition provides a well-regarded product portfolio, a longstanding North American customer base, and an experienced operations, sales, and management team.

Omnia Advanced Materials has installed a Hogenkamp Top Former on their PM2 fourdrinier board machine in Beaver Falls, New York. The new top former replaced a conventional dandy roll to enhance the top surface smoothness of their specialty board grades.

Greif has announced it is investing $13 million over the next five years to expand operations at its Greenville County paper mill in South Carolina and increase production capacity, Recycling Today reports. The US packaging producer expects the expansion to be complete in November.

Mondi plc (‘Mondi’) has agreed to acquire the Duino mill near Trieste (Italy) from the Burgo Group for a total consideration of €40 million.

Canada’s Cascades, a company specialised in sustainable recycling, hygiene and packaging solutions, has reported sales of some US$1.119 billion for the second quarter of this year, an increase of about 17.5 percent compared with the same quarter a year earlier.

UK- and Austria-based Mondi has reported positive results for the first six months of this year, posting group revenue of some €4.505 billion. Compared with the same period a year earlier, this represented a robust increase of some 37.2 percent.

Paper Excellence Group’s 1,000 TPD Skookumchuck, B.C., Canada mill has started up a Hogenkamp Slot Diffuser Dilution Headbox. The rebuild included new approach piping with gasketless metal-to-metal flanges, a radial distributor and 2.50” cross-machine profile dilution zones.

Following an extensive and long-term strategic analysis, Rottneros' Board of Directors has decided to discontinue the production of groundwood pulp in Rottneros Mill as there are no prospects for long-term sustainable profitability. The decision means that about 40 people will be made redundant.

Mondi plc ("Mondi" or the "Group") today announces that it has entered into an agreement to sell its most significant facility in Russia, Joint Stock Company Mondi Syktyvkar, together with two affiliated entities (together "Syktyvkar" or the "Business") to Augment Investments Limited ("Augment") for a consideration of RUB 95 billion (around EUR 1.5 billion at current exchange rate)1, payable in cash on completion (the "Disposal").

Hood Container has acquired the corrugated packaging business of Kentwood Packaging located in Walker, Michigan. The transaction includes all of Kentwood's design, manufacturing, assembly, and fulfillment operations in Walker, including its membership in Great Lakes Wax Coatings, LLC.

Fiber-based consumer packaging leader, Graphic Packaging International (‘Graphic Packaging’) has launched its KeelClip™ packaging solution in the United States with the installation of a KeelClip™ 1600 multipacking machine at Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages’ Elmsford, NY production facility.

Renewable energy sources can be converted directly into biofuels. There has been a huge growth in the production and usage of biofuels as substitutes for fossil fuels. Due to the declining reserve of fossil resources as well as environmental concerns, and essential energy security, it is important to develop renewable and sustainable energy and chemicals.

South Africa recycled 1.15 million metric tons of paper and paper packaging in 2021, representing a paper recovery rate of 61.4%.

ANDRITZ has successfully received the Final Acceptance Certificate for a biomass handling plant at Eldorado's Onca Pintada site in Tres Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul. This plant is part of the first thermoelectric power plant in Brazil to consume eucalyptus stumps and roots.

TAPPI will be performing its fiscal year-end inventory audit starting August 25. As a result, TAPPI Press orders will not be processed from August 25 through August 31. Orders received during this time will be shipped in the order they have been received starting September 1. All normal payment processing will resume on September 1.
