ABB announced it has signed an agreement to purchase Siemens’ low voltage NEMA motor business. With manufacturing operations in Guadalajara, Mexico, this acquisition provides a well-regarded product portfolio, a longstanding North American customer base, and an experienced operations, sales, and management team.

The 3D fibre product demo plant jointly owned by Metsä Group's innovation company Metsä Spring and Valmet was inaugurated in Äänekoski, Finland. The demo plant was inaugurated by Minister of Science and Culture Petri Honkonen, President and CEO of Metsä Group Ilkka Hämälä and CEO of Valmet Pasi Laine.

Kimberly-Clark announced that it was once again named one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition honors the company's exceptional leadership and commitment to business integrity through best-in-class ethics, compliance and governance practices.

Valmet said that it is investing EUR 18 million to further develop its press felt production facilities in Tampere, Finland. The investment involves new press felt machinery and equipment, including a new pre-needling line and a new needling line.

Mondi has agreed to acquire the Duino mill near Trieste (Italy) from the Burgo Group for a total consideration of EUR 40 million. The mill currently operates one paper machine producing lightweight coated mechanical paper.

The Millcraft Paper Company announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire KW Graphics of Springfield, Illinois. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Swedish Forest Agency today reported roundwood prices on delivery timber increased for both sawlog and pulpwood during the second quarter of 2022 in comparison to the first quarter of 2022. The sawlog price increased by 3 percent and pulpwood by almost 9 percent.

Pulp & Paper
International technology group ANDRITZ and Paracel S.A., Paraguay, have signed a contract under which ANDRITZ is to supply all process equipment and energy-efficient and environmentally friendly pulp production equipment for Paracel’s 1.8 million ton/year pulp mill to be built in Concepción, Paraguay.

ProJet, Meerssen, Netherlands have successfully started up 1 Tail & Deckle Cutter at Neenah Paper in Stevens Point, Wi. ProJet fully supported the customer and a joint successful commissioning of the systems was achieved.

Following the successful implementation of a major condition monitoring project's first stage in the summer of 2021, Romanian paper mill DS Smith Paper Zărnești announced an expansion of the project. After the completion of two more project stages, the Intellinova Parallel EN online system will fully cover all rolls in the dryer section of the plant's paper machine PM1.

ANDRITZ has received an order from Yuen Foong Yu Consumer Products Co., Ltd. to supply a PrimeLineCOMPACT M1600 tissue production line (PM10) to its mill located in Chingshui, Taiwan, Republic of China.

Chinese Greatview recently announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Alternapak Production srl at San Pietro in Gu, Italy. The facility in Italy ceased production earlier this year after having established a solid track record as a key supplier of aseptic cartons to leading players in the liquid food industry in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas over many years.

Eco-friendly packaging is safe for people and the environment and is simple to recycle. It employs as many renewable or recycled resources as it can, as well as renewable energy. Therefore, it is often referred to as “sustainable packaging” or “green packaging.”

One Clean Carton®, from Colbert Packaging Corporation, once again passed a series of laboratory tests to confirm its suitability for pharmaceutical and food-safe secondary packaging. New for 2022, Colbert submitted test samples of water-based, flexographic printed cartons as well as an agri-based, offset printed version.

SKF and Quaker Houghton (NYSE: KWR), the global leader in industrial process fluids, have entered into a new collaboration to offer industrial customers a fully circular use of industrial oil.

UPM Biochemicals, headquartered in Germany, and Dongsung Chemical, headquartered in South Korea, have agreed to form a strategic partnership to develop renewable products using bio-based raw materials, initially for footwear materials.

Antti Salminen (1971) has been appointed to lead Kemira’s Pulp & Paper segment as of 15.8.2022. He’s had several prior leadership positions in Kemira, latest as President, Industry & Water segment and has been a member of Kemira’s management board since 2011. He has a PhD in engineering.
