Mondi announced the start of production at its EUR 16 million greenfield kraft paper bag plant in Morocco, which can produce 100 million paper bags each year.

The HYFLEXPOWER consortium and Smurfit Kappa announced the successful completion of the first stage of the HYFLEXPOWER project, an innovative research project on renewable energy. This project located at the Smurfit Kappa Saillat paper mill in France, is the first in the world to introduce an integrated hydrogen gas turbine demonstrator.

The corrugated and paper waste markets have been difficult to predict in the last 90 days, due to ongoing fundamental stresses at paper mills and along the supply chain. This has caused prices of OCC to nosedive by $90 a ton or 70 percent, according to Fastmarket’s October Pulp & Paper Report.

Södra Cell has signed an order for four PulpEye analyzers for quality inspection online at the pulp mills in Mönsterås, Mörrum and Värö in Sweden. It is the second largest order ever signed by PulpEye.

Turkish tissue producer Essel Kâğıt’s new AHEAD 2.2L machine has exceeded its guaranteed production by a large margin and surpassed bulk and softness parameters. Supplied by Toscotec on a turnkey basis, PM3 had come online at Essel’s Osmaniye mill in Turkey in October 2021. After start-up, Toscotec has been providing continuous support to fine-tune the whole plant and achieve top performance.

The Mayr-Melnhof Group (MM) has sold its two Packaging sites in Russia, St. Petersburg and Pskov, to the local investor Granelle following approval by the governmental authorities.
