This compares to fourth quarter 2021 Net Income of $39 million, or $0.13 per share, based on 309 million weighted average diluted shares.

West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. announced the planned curtailment of operations at Cariboo Pulp & Paper located in Quesnel, British Columbia, beginning in mid-April for a month and then for another month in the third quarter.

Norske Skog said that its Bruck mill in Austria is getting close to starting-up paper machine 3 (PM3), which is being converted from the production of newsprint to recycled containerboard. The machine conversion is an EUR 90 - 100 million investment.

Stora Enso Oyj and AFRY have agreed an engineering assignment for converting decommissioned paper machine into a consumer board production line at the company’s mill in Oulu, Finland.

Sustainability
Finnish startup Fiberwood, a producer of 100% ecological wood fibre insulation and packaging materials made from mechanical wood industry side streams, has raised a late seed funding round. The round was led by Metsä Group's innovation company Metsä Spring, and the round included public financing from Business Finland.

In 2022, the electricity generated by Södra's own operations amounted to 1,913 GWh, just over 130 percent of the Group's annual electricity needs. That corresponds to surplus electricity of 460 GWh, in a year when electricity prices rose to historically high levels.

Menasha Corporation announced that James M. Kotek will retire from his position as President and Chief Executive Officer in March. The Menasha Corporation Board of Directors has appointed Christopher D. Drees to succeed Kotek effective March 13, 2023. Drees will also join the Menasha Corporation Board on that date.
