Sappi Limited on Sept. 14 announced that the intended sale to Aurelius Group of its Maastricht Mill in the Netherlands, its Stockstadt Mill in Germany and its Kirkniemi Mill in Finland (the "Transaction") has not materialized within the agreed timeframe of the contractual agreement and therefore the agreement has lapsed.

Pulp & Paper
MG TEC Industry successfully started up its second complete tissue production line from ANDRITZ at its mill in Dej, Romania. The first line went into operation in 2021.

Stora Enso announced plans to consolidate its book paper production and permanently close one of the two paper machines at the Anjala Mill in southern Finland.

Valmet has signed an extension of the service agreement with AS Estonian Cell aspen pulp mill in Kunda, Estonia. The previous three-year agreement between Estonian Cell and Valmet was extended to an additional five years.

Toscotec has recently received several orders from a confidential US producer for a total of 30 TT SteelDryer cylinders. Through repeated orders, this confidential group has so far purchased close to 50 TT SteelDryers for installation at 4 different locations in the USA.

Containerboard/Packaging
Construction is scheduled to begin soon on a $91 million upgrade at Georgia-Pacific’s containerboard mill in Monticello. It’s one of the company’s largest investments in the Lawrence County facility.

Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) announced that Michael Osborne joined the company on April 10, 2023, as Vice President, Manufacturing, replacing Bill Manzer, who has announced his plans to retire. Osborne is a thirty-plus-year manufacturing veteran, most recently holding the position of Vice President, Global Manufacturing for Kraton Pine Chemicals.
