Norske Skog announced that it has restarted a previously idled paper machine (PM5) at its Saugbrugs paper mill in Halden, Norway. Prior to being idled in late 2020, PM5 had a production capacity of up to 100,000 metric tons per year of SC magazine paper.

Ahlstrom has entered into an agreement to divest its Stenay paper mill in France to Accursia Capital, following the announcement of Accursia Capital's binding offer in July. The divestment was confirmed after receiving endorsement from the site's employee representatives.

The Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá) reported that for the first half of 2023, pulp exports from Brazil increased by 8.2%, totaling USD 4.1 billion, driven by sales to China and North America (United States and Canada). The balance generated by pulp exports to China increased by 25.4% and to North America by 19.9% in the first half of 2023.

The corrugated box market in Europe is estimated to increase by USD 4.66 billion from 2021 to 2026, with a CAGR of 4.68%, according to a recent market study by Technavio.

Valmet will supply an Advantage DCT 100TS tissue production line to Papel San Francisco in Mexico. The new TM 10 machine will be installed at the company's mill in Mexicali and the start-up is planned for the second quarter 2025.

Mercer International inaugurated the Mercer Lignin Center, which is located on the site of Mercer's Rosenthal pulp mill in Germany.

International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order for a new HERB recovery boiler including advanced digitalization solutions to be installed at Moorim P&P’s pulp and paper mill in Ulsan, South Korea.
