Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, is investing in world-leading environmental and operational performance in tissue paper production by modernizing and expanding its paper mill in Mariestad. AFRY has been involved in the pre-project and is now a selected partner to deliver several services in the construction phase.

Runtech Systems delivers a RunEco vacuum system to DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE in Lachendorf, Germany. The delivery includes an EP600 Turbo Blower, EcoDrop water separator and EcoFlow dewatering measurement. The Turbo Blower will replace all existing liquid ring pumps on PM2.

Shawano Specialty Papers, a division of Little Rapids Corporation, started up a TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer supplied by Toscotec at their paper mill in Shawano, Wisconsin, USA. It replaced an existing cast iron dryer on PM3.

Glatfelter has entered into an agreement with Ekman & Co. to market Glatfelter's high quality, specialty Abaca pulp exclusively through Ekman's global sales agency platform.

Containerboard/Packaging
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced that Pratt Industries will build a new corrugated box plant in Warner Robins, which is located in central Georgia. The new plant will create more than 125 jobs and over $120 million in investment.

Sonoco Products Company announced the completion of its acquisition of the remaining equity interest in RTS Packaging, LLC from joint venture partner WestRock and one WestRock paper mill in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Sustainability
Valmet will deliver an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) for the recovery boiler in Shandong Huatai Paper’s 700,000 metric tons chemical pulp project in Shandong province, China. The delivery is scheduled for January 2025.

International Paper announced that Chairman and CEO Mark Sutton has requested that the Board of Directors move forward with the next phase of the company's CEO succession plan. This phase in the process will include a comprehensive evaluation of internal and external candidates for Sutton's successor.

Stora Enso announced that Minna Björkman will assume a business leadership role in Stora Enso's Packaging Materials division during the fourth quarter of 2023. Until Björkman starts in her new role, she will remain a member of the Group Leadership Team (GLT).

Pankaboard CEO Sampo Antti’s service relationship at the company has ended. Current Deputy CEO Pasi Piiparinen will act as an interim CEO until a new CEO has been appointed and started.
