Paper Excellence and Domtar announced that they have entered into a strategic business combination under which the Paper Excellence group of companies will acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of Domtar common stock for $55.50 per share, in cash.

Recently, UPM has awarded Voith to supply its Quality Control System (QCS) OnQuality of scanners and sensors to the company’s PM 6 in Schongau, Germany. The new system will stabilize and optimize product quality and the overall production process.

Irish-owned Zeus Packaging announced an EUR 15 million investment in Aldar Tissues, a Dublin-based tissue manufacturer that Zeus acquired in 2019 as part of a three-year, EUR 40 million acquisition strategy which concluded in February of this year.

ANDRITZ has received an order from North Pacific Paper Company (NORPAC) to supply a major expansion of the OCC line for its mill in Longview, Washington. ANDRITZ will install a FibreFlow drum pulper, type FFD450EE, as well as various fiber cleaning and reject handling equipment to upgrade the existing OCC line and expand the mill's production of lightweight recycled packaging papers.

Verso Corporation (NYSE: VRS) reported financial results for the first quarter of 2021 and announced that its Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend for the quarter ending June 30, 2021, in the amount of $0.10 per each outstanding share of Verso's Class A common stock.

Sappi reported fiscal 2021 second quarter results. Commenting on the group's results, Steve Binnie, CEO of Sappi said, "I am pleased with the steady recovery from the ongoing challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. EBITDA continued to improve quarter-on-quarter from a low of US$26 million in our third quarter of 2020 through US$98 million in the previous quarter to US$112 million for the current quarter, with further improvement expected for our third quarter.

Pulp & Paper
Valmet and ARAUCO have signed an agreement to jointly develop the Arauco Mill Line 3 in Chile to become the world’s most autonomous pulp mill. Valmet will supply its Industrial Internet Solutions (VII Solutions) comprised of Mill Wide Optimization applications, advanced prediction and monitoring applications as well as expert services.

Zhidachiv Pulp and Paper Mill, one of Ukraine’s largest pulp and paper producers, which is based in the Lviv region (Western Ukraine) plans to increase its output this year by at least 33% compared to 2020, according to recent statements, made by an official spokesman of the company and the Ukranian media reports.
