Norwegian cardboard producer Ranheim Paper & Board started up PM5 at its Ranheim paper mill after a dryer section rebuild supplied by Toscotec. The rebuild has been completed according to schedule.

UPM Pulp, UPM Timber, UPM Communication Papers and UPM Biofuels will start change negotiations on possible temporary layoffs. The negotiations are conducted to prepare for possible temporary adjustment of production in the Finnish units should the uncertainty in the operating environment continue.

Metsä Board announced that the project to expand folding boxboard production capacity at the Husum integrated pulp and paperboard mill in Sweden has been completed. With the modernization of the board machine 1 (BM1), the annual production capacity of folding boxboard (FBB) will be increased by 200,000 tons to reach 600,000 tons.

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), the Jakarta-based world’s largest paper mill said the Middle East and Africa (MEA) market is a critical growth geography for its paper and paper products in the light of the growing demand for bio-degradable green packaging solutions, estimated to be growing at around 4 per cent annually.
