MM Board & Paper announced that it has concluded discussions with employee representatives at its pulp and paper mill in Poland, MM Kwidzyn, and made a decision to close PM3 -- a packaging kraft paper machine.

Metsä Group has selected Arup as one of its partners to design a planned new, state-of-the art tissue paper mill in Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire. With the planned investment Metsä Group’s tissue paper business aims to replace almost half of imported essential tissue products and bring locally produced, sustainable tissue products to the UK, increasing the country’s self-sufficiency in this sector by 30 %.

Metsä Group is exploring possibilities to construct a carbon capture facility at one of its pulp or bioproduct mills. The investigation is a continuation of the work initiated in the spring, in which Metsä Group and Fortum jointly studied the capture of wood-based carbon dioxide and its use in the chemical industry and hydrogen economy, for example.

Kemira has appointed Antti Salminen as President and CEO, effective February 12, 2024. Petri Castrén will continue as the Interim President and CEO until that date, after which he will continue as the CFO of Kemira.
