Two Sides announced its newest member, the European Manufacturers Paper Honeycomb Association (EMPHA), the pan-European association for manufacturers of paper honeycomb core and paper honeycomb board products.

The Public Investment Fund (PIF) has announced the completion of a deal to invest in the Middle East Paper Company (MEPCO), a leading manufacturer specialized in producing and recycling paper-based products in the Middle East and North Africa. PIF has acquired a 23.08% stake in MEPCO by way of a capital increase and subscription to new shares.

By Chaz Miller, Waste 360 Markets have been quite quirky this year as I noted in my last column. Paper prices continue to go up in most parts of the country. Even though plastic prices are showing some signs of life, the four curbside plastics, PET, both HDPEs and polypropylene, remain in the doldrums. Recycling prices normally weaken in winter s demand slows down.

Ox Industries announced a price increase of $50 per ton for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) and a minimum price increase of 6% on all tube and core and protective packaging products.

Greif, Inc. announced it is implementing a $40 to $70 per short ton increase for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) and a minimum 6.0 percent increase on all tube and core and protective packaging products.

Hood Container Corporation announced that it has acquired the corrugated packaging business of Sumter Packaging Corporation based in Sumter, South Carolina. This includes all of Sumter's design, manufacturing, assembly and fulfillment operations in Sumter, SC, as well as the business manufactured and serviced from the Statesville, North Carolina facility.

The International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF) announced that Green Bay Packaging, longtime supporter, has pledged an additional $100,000 to support the foundation's programs and services.
