The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) President and CEO Heidi Brock and American Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Jackson Morrill responded to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) announcement of an updated National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for particulate matter (PM2.5), which lowers the standard to 9 µg/m3.

Metsä Group reported fourth quarter 2023 results (as compared to 4Q 2022). In 4Q 2023, sales were EUR 1.486 million (1.741). Operating result was EUR 55 million (316). Comparable operating result was EUR 57 million (311). Net cash flow from operations was EUR 439 million (399).

Commenting on the group's [first financial quarter 2024] results, Sappi Chief Executive Officer Steve Binnie said: "Within the context of ongoing challenging global macroeconomic conditions and weak paper markets I am pleased that the group delivered EBITDA of US$156 million, which was in line with guidance provided in the prior quarter."
