International technology group ANDRITZ has delivered a second fiber production line to Pavatex, a member of Soprema Group. The line, which includes a chip handling and pressurized refining system, has now successfully produced first fibers at the insulation board production facility in Golbey, France.

DS Smith has unveiled a ₤48 million ($60.6 million) investment in a new fiber preparation line (F-line) at its Kemsley, England paper mill. Forming part of DS Smith's organic investment program, this multi-year investment will deliver attractive returns through improved efficiency and reduced costs.

Valmet expanded its global social responsibility program with several area-specific local projects promoting science, nature and equal opportunities in 2022. After a year of successful implementation, the program now continues through six local projects.

Enhancements include the expansion of the new sectional control Water-Cooling, new control panels and management for Steam-Hoods-Vacuum, reconstruction of drying sections, retrofitting of the shoe press, implementation of automatic hydraulic lubrication, complete pulp reject treatment system with deferrization, upgrade on the QCS for thickness and ash control, Out Line automatic laboratory, reconstruction of the consistency control system and the steam fire prevention system for the entire plant.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is announcing that grease-proofing materials containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are no longer being sold for use in food packaging in the U.S. This means the major source of dietary exposure to PFAS from food packaging like fast-food wrappers, microwave popcorn bags, take-out paperboard containers and pet food bags is being eliminated.

SST measures propagation speed of supersonic pulse in 16 directions (11.25 degree each) with 8 pairs of transmitter/sensor in the sheet, and calculates tow power of velocity V (km/s) of each direction. Since V2 is very good correlating with 'Young's modulus', SST defines Tensile Stiffness Index "TSI = V2" and calculates TSI of the machine direction ''TSlmd" and of the cross direction "TSlcd."
