When Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) are recycled and processed in a paper mill, the resulting pulp goes through a screening process to remove contaminants and impurities. The material that doesn't pass through the screens or is deemed unsuitable for recycling is termed "screen rejects."

Metsä Group said that it has restarted its Kemi bioproduct mill in Finland. The mill has been restarted in stages and has returned to production.

As an industry we spend a lot of time worrying about paper deselection, and rightly so. But lately, I seem to hear more about companies that had previously decided to get out of paper and are now back with paper. And I don’t just mean the utilities and banks and service providers who, sometimes despite their best efforts, have found that customers still want paper billing options.

Sonoco announced it will raise the price for all converted paperboard products by a minimum of 6 percent, effective with shipments in the United States and Canada, on or after July 10th, 2024. This includes tubes, cores, cones and protective packaging.
