MM Kotkamills held an inauguration ceremony for the official opening of its new Sheeting Centre in Kotka, Finland.

Mill Rock Packaging Inc ("MRP") announced that it has entered into a strategic alliance with Everett Graphics ("Everett" or "the Company"). MRP has acquired Everett's Woodland, California packaging and laminating assets and entered into a long-term supply agreement with the Company.

The North American pulp and paper industry is undergoing a significant transformation as it embraces sustainable development practices to address environmental concerns and meet evolving market demands. This sector, a cornerstone of manufacturing, produces essential items ranging from packaging to hygiene products, but faces mounting pressure to reduce its ecological footprint.

In 2023, the amount of packaging materials exported from China declined slightly to 3.9M tons, standing approx. at 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2013 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.

Orient Paper Industries Ltd (OPIL) recently entered into a partnership agreement with the BTG Group, to assist them with a digital transformation journey that will be rolled out in phases over the next few years.

Papeteries des Vosges et du Leman group (PVL) has announced plans to double the capacity of its Primabake parchment paper to approximately 65,000 metric tons per year by the end of 2027. PVL said the capacity boost is necessary to meet the increasing demand for parchment paper in baking applications.

Portuguese tissue producer c’s Yankee hoods and air system at their Torres Novas facility near Lisbon. The rebuild is planned for 2024. This is a repeat order for Toscotec who started its cooperation with Renova in 2007 with the replacement of their PM5’s cast iron Yankee with a TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer.

"We're seeing a significant shift towards minimal packaging, biodegradable materials, and recyclable designs," notes a spokesperson from The Packaging People. Effective September 1, Hamic will be responsible for leading the company's Container and Containerboard businesses in North America.
