Kruger announced a $32.4 million investment at its Kamloops Pulp Mill in British Columbia, Canada, to implement innovative technology to diversify its product portfolio and expand into fast growing markets.

Winstone Pulp International is closing down its two mills — a pulp mill and sawmill — in New Zealand, due to unsustainable power prices, resulting in the loss of 230 jobs.

Nouryon has started operations at its new Integrated Manufacturing Model site in Ribas do Rio Pardo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, which includes the production of hydrogen peroxide, sodium chlorate, and chlorine dioxide. The new investment, designed in partnership with a long-term customer in Brazil, significantly increases Nouryon's total sodium chlorate capacity available to the market, and supports the growing pulp and paper industry in the region.

Norske Skog has provided an update of its strategic project at Norske Skog Golbey in France.

Golden West Packaging Group, formed around six years ago through the acquisition of Cal Sheets, operates as part of a partnership consortium. Golden West Packaging comprises around ten converting plants, with the Golden West Stockton site being the sole plant equipped with a corrugator, supplying various flutes to plants in Northern California and Washington state.

Koehler Paper has added “Koehler NexPlus Seal WVB” to its portfolio of innovative flexible packaging paper in the NexPlus® product line. “Koehler NexPlus® Seal WVB” is a heat-sealable paper which boasts a vapor barrier as its functional layer, thereby offering optimal product protection.

Power Adhesives has announced the launch of its biodegradable hot melt adhesive, said to be a ‘world first’ and designed for use by carton, corrugated packaging, point of sale (POS) converters and contract packers.

Metsä Board said that its paper mills' fibrous fractions from the production of paperboard grades such as folding boxboards, food service boards and white kraftliners can now be used as raw materials for animal bedding.

Evonik and Steinbeis Papier have signed an agreement for the supply of Evonik’s carbon-neutral hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for recycled paper production. The use of this “Way to GO2”-certified H2O2 will enable Steinbeis Papier to further reduce emissions along its value chain, in accordance with the company’s ambitious sustainability strategy.

International Paper announced that its board of directors elected Andy Silvernail as Chairman of the International Paper Board of Directors in addition to his role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective October 1, 2024. Mark Sutton, who has continued to serve in the role of Chairman of the Board since retiring as CEO in May, will retire from the Board on September 30, 2024.

Stora Enso has appointed Pasi Kyckling as acting CFO until Niclas Rosenlew starts in his position as new CFO. Pasi will hold the role of acting CFO from 1 November 2024 until Niclas joins Stora Enso, at the latest in January 2025. As announced in May, Stora Enso's current CFO Seppo Parvi will assume a role with a company outside of the forest industry.
