China’s Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication (BIGC) and the All India Federation of Printers and Packagers (AIFPP) are said to have come to a cooperation agreement. The partnership seeks to promote global cooperation in printing, packaging, and publishing education, enhancing both academic and industry connections between India and China.

Valmet is to deliver a press roll for the TwinRoll wash press at Mercer Rosenthal mill in Germany. The new TwinRoll Press Roll will ensure the availability and performance of the press and increase its lifetime. The replacement roll will be delivered during the second quarter of 2026.
 
UPM continues to selectively align its paper capacity with profitable customer demand to ensure performance and therefore plans to permanently close its paper mill in Ettringen, Germany, reducing the annual capacity of uncoated mechanical paper by 270,000 tonnes during July 2025.
 
Procemex, a member of the Andritz Group,has received an order from Billerud to supply a OnePlatform web monitoring and web inspection system with winder and re-winder controls for the board mill in Gävle, Sweden.
 
Sofidel announces the delivery of a new Yankee dryer. The Yankee Dryer, considered the heart of a tissue machine, is intended to be installed on a new Valmet paper machine, the third one in facility whose start-up is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.

Saica Group has announced plans to invest about $100 million in the construction of a new corrugated manufacturing facility in Anderson, Indiana (USA).
 
In October 2024, Metsä Group announced that it had been invited to negotiations on partial funding from the EU Innovation Fund for the first Muoto packaging product mill planned for construction in Rauma in Finland. The negotiations have now been concluded and an agreement on partial funding has been signed.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) program has become a crucial framework for aligning corporate climate strategies with global climate goals.  The latest Environmental Paper Assessment Tool (EPAT) release now allows companies in the pulp, paper, and packaging industries to report their commitment to SBTi, fostering increased transparency and accountability related to climate change.   
 
The Voith Group has set for itself scientifically based climate targets. Accordingly, the company is committed to reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of its own sites (Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions) by 50.4% by fiscal year 2031/32 compared to the baseline year 2021/22. In addition, Voith aims to reduce GHG emissions from the use of its products (Scope 3) by 30% over the same period.
