Valmet has received an order for a complete Valmet IQ Quality Management System package from one of North America’s largest pressure-sensitive laminate producers. It will be delivered to the customer’s Midwest facility and include Valmet IQ Moisturizers for moisture and curl control, Valmet IQ Silicone measurement, Valmet IQ Reflective Spectrometer measurement for adhesive, two Valmet IQ Single Sided Scanner S units, and closed-loop moisture MD/CD control and MD Silicone control.

Jansen Combustion & Boiler Technologies (Jansen) has acquired the Redmond, Washington based Lundberg, LLC (Lundberg), formerly a division of LDX Solutions. Founded in 1976, Lundberg specializes in the design and supply of custom solutions including engineering, systems and equipment for the process industries to meet each client’s unique needs. The acquisition includes Lundberg offices in both Redmond, WA and Bilbao, Spain.

Valmet announced that it has opened its new 13,000 square meter office space in Tikkurila, Vantaa, Finland. Nearly 700 employees in Finland — mainly from Järvenpää and partly from Vantaa's Hakkila office — have moved into the new premises in early spring.

International technology group ANDRITZ has successfully started up a state-of-the-art recycled fiber line for N.R. Agarwal Industries Ltd. in its mill located in Vapi, India.

RunEco Vacuum System has started up at Papirnica Vevče d.o.o., Slovenia. The delivery to PM5 included an EP600 Turbo Blower with EcoDrop Water Separator and EcoFlow Dewatering Measurement Systems for wire couch roll save all, press nips and press uhle boxes to help in determining the correct vacuum level and optimizing energy consumption. Runtech’s local partner Flowtec supported the mill in the selection of correct valves for the process.

Sustainability
According to a recent life cycle assessment conducted by Metsä Board, switching from white-lined chipboard (WLC) to Metsä Board’s folding boxboard can reduce the carbon footprint of food packaging by over 60%. The LCA study, which compared MetsäBoard Classic FBB to corresponding grades available in European markets, was verified by the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute.

UPM Specialty Papers is proud to announce that its packaging papers have been certified as recyclable according to both European CEPI and U.S. WMU testing methods. All UPM barrier papers, barrier base papers and flexible packaging papers have successfully passed the new CEPI recyclability test. These papers are technically recyclable in a recycling mill with conventional process according to CEPI-Scorecard version 2.0 (January 2025).

On World Recycling Day 2025, the Italian Paper and Graphics Federation highlights the strategic role of the circular economy in the paper, printing, and processing supply chain for the decarbonization and competitiveness of the country. This was discussed at the Press Room of the Italian Chamber of Deputies during the presentation of the ‘Proposal for the establishment of the National Paper Recycling Day’ by Massimo Medugno, General Director of Assocarta, representing the Italian Paper and Graphics Federation.
