(TIP 0603-02) Stickies Classification TIP

Stickies can lead to sticky situations. Stickies are omnipresent in the paper recycling mills and many different terms are used to describe them: macro stickies, micro stickies, dispersed stickies, colloidal stickies, mini stickies, and DISCO (dissolved and colloidal) stickies, to name just a few. The new TIP 0603-02 "Stickies Definition and Classification" can help differentiate between them and help you determine the best course of action.

This TIP can help cut back on expensive paper machine downtime not to mention the use of toxic solvents to soften and remove the deposits. Measurement and control of stickies is very important for the economic viability of the mills making or consuming recycled pulps. Process engineer, technical director, paper machine superintendent, industry suppliers and institutional researchers can benefit from this TIP.
