The Standard-Specific Interest Groups (SSIGs) for the following standards are in need of additional members

All Standard-Specific Interest Groups (SSIG) require a minimum of 10 members in order to ballot and vote on a draft of a method. The following test methods do not have the required minimum number of member to initiate a ballot:

T 245 Silicates and silica in pulp (wet ash method). Requires 3 more SSIG members.

T 255 Water-soluble sulfates in pulp and paper. Needs 2 more members.

T 406 Reducible sulfur in paper and paperboard: needs 2 more members to open WI.

T 408 Rosin in paper and paperboard. Needs 2 more members.

T 421 Qualitative (including optical microscopic) analysis of mineral filler and mineral coating of paper. Requires three more 
SSIG  members for ballot.

T 428 Hot water extractable acidity or alkalinity of paper. Needs 1 more member to open WI.

T 438 Zinc and cadmium in paper. Requires one more SSIG member to ballot.

T 602 Analysis of sulfuric acid. Requires 2 more SSIG members.

T 656 Measuring, sampling, and analyzing white waters. Need 5 more members.

T 657 Sampling of fillers and pigments. Needs more members that belong to any interest category other than Supplier - chemicals/raw materials.

T NEW (WI 3033) Conformational isomerism of cellulose under incremental stress or strain. Needs 6 members.

T NEW (WI 3034) Identification of non-native cellulose in cellulose-based composites. Needs 7 members.

If no progress is made on balancing these SSIGs, then the respective methods may be considered for withdrawal at the next QSMC meeting. If you have an interest in becoming a member of either of these SSIGs please contact standards@tappi.org.
