This section brings the experiences and shows the hard work of volunteers of TAPPI who work with Standards, TIPs, or ISO TC 6. Please meet our STAR Member, John Buzzell John Buzzell, Director of Technical Services at Georgia-Pacific, and TAPPI member since 1996, has concluded his impactful tenure as the Corrugated Packaging Division’s Corrugated Board Technical Services Committee (CORBOTEC) Technical Information Papers (TIP) Coordinator, leaving behind a legacy of significant achievements in technical documentation. During his service from 2020 to 2024, Buzzell played a pivotal role in modernizing and streamlining TAPPI's corrugated TIPs portfolio. Under Buzzell's leadership, CORBOTEC published 41 Technical Information Papers (TIPs) and strategically withdrew several outdated documents to maintain industry relevance. His efforts were instrumental in managing CORBOTEC's catalog of 74 TIPs, which represents nearly a quarter of TAPPI's total TIP collection. Buzzell's contributions to TAPPI extend beyond his role as TIP Coordinator. In 2022, he received the Corrugated Division Technical Award and Harry J. Bettendorf Prize in recognition of his technical expertise and service to the industry. Most recently, he authored the foreword to the seventh edition of the Corrugated Defect Remedy Manual (CDRM), further cementing his legacy in corrugated industry documentation. As Buzzell passes the torch to incoming coordinator Jerry Saballus, Principal at Corrugator Belt Service, his four-year tenure stands as a testament to the impact dedicated volunteers can have on TAPPI's Standard and TIP development process. His work has helped ensure that TAPPI's technical documentation remains current and valuable for corrugated industry professionals worldwide. If you would like to share your experience with Standards, TIPs or ISO TC 6, please write to standards@tappi.org and the TAPPI Standards team will be happy to interview you. |
