The Bioenergy Standards Summit will be held at BioPro Expo, Wednesday, March 16th, at the Atlanta Hilton in Atlanta, Georgia. In this very active research area, researchers and others active in the field are not always consistent in reporting how data was calculated as there are no existing standards for many parameters. The Summit will examine and address these issues and opportunities. In addition, the Department of Energy and other fund-granting organizations have difficulty comparing proposals as there is no consistency in data reporting.
This unique forum will:
1. Generate a list of potential standards for development in the growing area of bioenergy, with an initial focus on biomass characterization, saccharification, fermentation, and other tests that support bioenergy technologies that fit into the pulp and paper industry
2. Identify individuals that can lead development of identified standards
3. Identify funding sources and secure assistance in applying for funds
4. Coordinate participation on the TC 238 for biofuels so as not to duplicate efforts and also facilitate any appropriate collaborative efforts or opportunities
5. Identify next steps for standards in this area
Event Overview
BioPro Expo & Marketplace is a unique biomass conference, in that it will provide the world with the opportunity to learn from one of the leading industries in biomass conversion - the pulp and paper industry.BioPro Expo & Marketplace will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on March 14-16, 2011 at the Downtown Atlanta Hilton Hotel. And co-located with the 2011 International Bioenergy & Bioproducts Conference, this combined event will provide opportunities to learn about, see and touch some of the latest 'ready for market' technologies on biomass conversion.
