Supplier lists - biannual update cycle
TAPPI Standard Practice T 1211 "Acceptance procedures for laboratories providing reference materials for TAPPI Standards", revised in 2011, establishes guidelines for the listing of organizations as calibration laboratories or providers of standardized materials in the TAPPI Standards.
According to Section 5.1, laboratories must certify that they meet the criteria for inclusion in the reference materials listing at the time of a standards review or on a two-year basis prior to the issuance of the latest volume of standards.
TAPPI is currently going through the update cycle to affirm information for Reference Material Suppliers, Test Equipment Suppliers and Testing Laboratories. Suppliers of equipment and materials for Standards, please make sure to respond and provide updated information by July 1, 2019 so we may continue to list you in the directory. Please send any update to standards@tappi.org.

TAPPI Standards Online Balloting System
SSIG members,
Since the migration of the Standards Online Balloting System from Kavi to TAPPI Connect (please read the announcement published in the May issue of STAR Newsletter), we have been renewing the deadlines for all ballots that were in progress since the date of the migration, due to undesirable issues with the new Workspace. One of the problems is that some SSIG members have lost the ability to connect to the Workspace, where the ballots are being held. Despite the tireless work that TAPPI has been devoting to solve the problems, along with the company that carried out the migration, the balloting system is still not working properly. To prevent you from continuing to receive multiple automatic reminders to vote on ballots that you are participating in, the TAPPI Standards Department is taking the following actions:
• All ballot deadlines are being extended to December 31, 2019
• All automatic voting reminders are being deactivated
• No new ballot has been opened
• Once the online balloting system is functioning properly, the deadlines for each ballot will be rescheduled so that all members will have a chance to review the Standard for at least 45 days.
During this period, you will not receive any reminders to vote, however you will still have the chance to vote on the ballots you are participating in. If you have already voted, there is no need to vote again. If you cannot access the balloting system (Workspace) through TAPPI Connect while trying to vote, we encourage you to contact our TAPPI Connect specialist, Kristin Whitman - kwhitman@tappi.org, and she will review your case individually.
Once the balloting system is functioning properly, a new message will be sent to all SSIG members informing them about the final adjustment of the deadlines and the last voting reminders will be reactivated.
On behalf of TAPPI, I apologize for any inconvenience that the migration of the Standards online balloting system may have caused. The TAPPI Standards Department will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Priscila Briggs
Standards Manager
