TAPPI TIP 0402-35: Post-Fabrication Cleaning of Stainless Steel in the Pulp and Paper Industry
Scope: All owners and operators of pulp and paper mills want to keep their facility continuously and reliably on stream for as long as possible with the minimum of maintenance. Post-fabrication cleaning maximizes technical and corrosion performance.
Stainless steel relies on its invisible, exceedingly thin, passive film of chromium oxide to protect its surface against the onset of corrosion. Post fabrication cleaning is the single most important factor in maximizing and maintaining the corrosion performance of fabricated stainless steel in any particular application, not just in the pulp and paper industry.
